PROJECT
The Authority is in the process of a
major rehabilitation project involving Hillcrest Oaks and Oakhurst developments.
This project has been four years in planning and involves almost $30 million that is being
invested in Attleboro's public housing portfolio. We are completely rehabilitating
212 existing units, building 11 new handicapped-accessible units, creating a community
center for Hillcrest Oaks and constructing a new building for Authority administrative and
maintenance operations. Working with the staff, Board of Commissioners and residents
over more than eight months, we have developed and DHCD has approved a Relocation Plan for
families that will be implemented in conjunction with the start of construction. |
Construction has begun at Hillcrest Oaks and
will progress over the next two years. Hillcrest families will move to new apartment
units outfitted with state-of-the-art heating, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as
new equipment in kitchens and baths, new fixtures throughout the unit, painting,
refinished flooring, windows, doors and more. Separate proposals from the Authority
are currently being reviewed by DHCD for funding and they include exterior lighting and
security cameras and recorders to enhance security throughout the development.
Christina Harnois is the point of
contact for relocation throughout the project and can be reached at 508-222-0151, extension 215. This phone line
is only for relocation questions or comments If Christina is unavailable,
you may leave your message about the project or relocation and she will return all calls.
