THE MASSACHUSETTS RENTAL VOUCHER PROGRAM The Commonwealth of Massachusetts provides rental assistance through the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (MRVP). The program is funded annually by the state legislature. State funded "mobile" vouchers can be used anywhere in Massachusetts, but "project-based" vouchers are only available in specific apartments. Eligibility: To be eligible for admission in the MRVP, a Participant's net income, as calculated pursuant to 760 CMR 49, shall be no more than two hundred percent (200%) of the Federal Poverty Level Standard, as promulgated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We adopt revised income limits as often as necessary to be consistent with changes in the Federal Poverty Level Standard.
How to Apply for MRVP Assistance: Mail your completed application, including all required documentation to the Attleboro Housing Authority. When your application is received, it is date & time stamped. It takes approximately three (3) weeks to process each application, during which time it is entered into the computer system, landlord references are sent out and a background check is done. Your name is then placed on our waiting list. Applicants may put their name on more than one waiting list if they qualify for more than one program. Waiting lists for the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program tend to be long. When your name comes to the top of the list, you will be contacted. It is extremely important that you notify us if you change your address while you are on the waiting list. For more information regarding the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (M.R.V.P.), please refer to the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Regulations.
